The Washington Post

"When the music required fire, Myriam brought flamethrowers."

Jörgen Pettersson, Stockholm, Sweden

"[The] performance was a splendid accomplishment, and I sat in awe all the way through..."

-Steven E. Hendrickson, Solo Trumpet National Symphony Orchestra

She is a colorful musician and has many good suggestions for interpretation. She has such love of performing! She has charisma and charm at the same time. She has helped me grow as a musician. We have performed many concerts with, not so great, pianos or acoustics. She is always upbeat.

El Commercio of Lima

With great sensitivity, imagination, and mastery, Myriam (Avalos) presented a highly refined, suggestive, and colorful Debussy. Her interpretation reached the greatest heights."

The Times of London

"A performance of sincerity and opulence...the amazing range of tone and faculty for expression went beyond the powers of most players."

-Jane Bowyer Stewart, first violinist with the National Symphony Orchestra

Chamber musicians are forever in search of a virtuosic, versatile, and colorful pianist who is also an intelligent, sensitive and flexible collaborative artist. Myriam Avalos exemplifies that rare combination. I have been fortunate enough to perform duo recitals and chamber works with her for over four decades. In our joint explorations of a wide-ranging repertoire, her formidable intellect and passion shine through. Always fully prepared, not just in her technical mastery but also in her understanding of the whole piece, she enters rehearsals with an engaging appetite for addressing true ensemble precision and for discovering and refining a mutually satisfying interpretation. In performances, she manages to infuse an already polished product with just the right amount of freshness. Myriam’s high standards and the warmth of her playing inspire all of us who get to work with her.

Ladis Müller, Småland, Sweden

"[Myriam Avalos] has at her disposal a broad range of expressions which moves between silver clear and ethereal nuances to periods of rarely heard intensity. She skates from a lively warm and painterly description to a frenzied uproar. Her hand position, touch. articulation and feeling for color is but many of the musical dimensions that distinguish Myriam Avalos's artistic concept."

-Mike Kelley Co-Artsitic Director, Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music Violist, Apple Hill String Quartet

For decades, Myriam has been a treasured Guest Faculty member here at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music in Nelson, NH. She is a world-class performer, a brilliant colleague, and an insightful educator. Her boundless enthusiasm for teaching, coupled with a deep knowledge of the repertoire, make her an essential part of our Summer Chamber Music Workshop’s Playing for Peace program, which uses chamber music to create connection and understanding among people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, ages, and playing levels. Our resident ensemble, the Apple Hill String Quartet, has collaborated with her on many programs, performing across the US and on international concert tours. At every step, from the rehearsal process to the concert stage, playing with Myriam is a true joy.
